It’s our First Anniversary! We are excited and proud to celebrate our first year of At the Ready magazine with you! We hit the ground running last year with articles covering a wide range of relevant and timely topics for first responders far from the city spotlight. We have no plans to slow down our second year! You probably noticed that we have a new look, and have added with content organization and access changes to be more user friendly and easy to search. We also added a quick (2 question) survey on the site, so make sure you tell us what type of organization you work in, and how you found us. Your answers will only be used to help guide our future articles.

In this March/ April 2014 issue we are introducing an article series on Emergency Operations Centers and strategies for municipalities of all sizes to incorporate EOC assets for multi-agency incidents and disasters. The Introduction to the series is in this issue, the follow on articles will appear quarterly in 2014. Crisis Intervention Teams, what they are, how to start one, and why you need this critical training for responding to a mentally ill victim or patient. Also in this issue- Mark Phillips of PSDiver.com addresses the importance of PPE for Public Safety Divers, we discuss the Duty to Respond inspired by the rescuers who may be sued in Colorado, and we also had a little fun, sharing our Favorite Memes.

We sincerely hope you enjoy the issue, and we are always interested in your comments and feedback. Reach me at dkennedy@atthereadymag.com. Stay safe, and always be At the Ready.

With warmest regards,

Dawn
