First.Responder.gov is a website for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate. The First Responder Group (FRG) is dedicated to various first responder disciplines, including EMS,Fire, LEO, Search and Rescue, Hazmat and Communications. This “one stop” website features free training webinars that are available for download.

The Capacity Building Webinar Series offers “monthly web-based seminars to enable the first responder to apply emerging technology, listen to instruction and lessons learned, as well as earn CEUs and certificates through live instructor interaction.

The website also "contains articles for each of the First Responder disciplines, a blog, events calendar, and technology profiles for first responder equipment. The website currently has a four minute video on the “Next Generation First Responder”.

A current blog article hosts Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, star of the earthquake movie, San Andreas, in a Public Service Announcement providing community education and earthquake Preparedness, “Drop, Cover, and Hold On”

In keeping with our “Earthmoving” issue, there is a “recap” article of the June 2014 Capstone Event, an earthquake disaster preparedness exercise, held in eight states, organized by the Central U.S. Earthquake Consortium (CUSEC). The “CAPSTONE-14 simulated a catastrophic earthquake in the New Madrid Seismic Zone and the resulting coordinated response between local, state and federal governments, along with public and private sector agencies.”

There is an archive of the best practices and lessons learned series from the CAPSTONE-14 webinar are also available on the website. The dates of original broadcasts are June 16, July 24, and August 26, 2014.
